Double Knockout – Damnselless
The first time I heard this new single from Lafayette-based duo Double Knockout, I just thought, "Wow, this is so refreshing." Double Knockout—made up of Micah Gill and Brittany Migues—has pulled off a sound that’s thick and full of depth, and honestly, you can’t help but stop and listen. Their latest track, 'Damnselless', dropped on July 24, 2026, and it’s packed with fuzzy guitars and sing-along lyrics, especially once that chorus kicks in.
“Somebody save me, I’m naked and bleeding. I don’t think I’ll make it on my own.”
Damnselless just hits different—especially when that breakdown at the end starts. Seriously, it’s perfect. If you haven’t listened to Double Knockout yet, here’s how I’d describe their music: it’s alternative, loaded with heavy guitars, and the lyrics really hit you in the feels. Relatable is probably the best word for their songwriting—every track connects in its own way. Go stream 'Damnselless' today.

Cussing – Lungs
New Jersey-based Cussing (formerly known as Separatr) just dropped their latest single, 'Lungs,' and honestly, it’s pure noise pop magic. From the very first second, you’re hit with shimmering guitars and a driving beat that makes it impossible not to move. The production is ridiculously tight. Stephanie’s vocals are absolutely on point—her voice soars over the mix with a kind of effortless cool. I adore her vocal stylings because they ooze this badass female energy that can't be denied. That same energy runs through the whole song, and it’s impossible not to feel it, too. 'Lungs' isn’t just fun—it’s proof that Cussing keeps leveling up with every release. If you haven’t listened yet, you’re missing out on one of the best noise pop tracks of the summer.

Message From Mercury - Is This What You Wanted
The only thing I could say when I heard Message From Mercury’s new track, 'Is This What You Wanted,' was wow. The layers in this song just blend together perfectly. Seriously, you’ve got to give it a listen—I can’t recommend it enough.
Message From Mercury is a five-piece rock / alternative band that got together in 2023, thanks to Florida’s Christopher Martinez (lead guitar) and Louisiana’s Ash Morgan (lead vocals). Their sound is honestly tough to pin down. Sure, you get these powerful choruses, thumping basslines, and sharp guitar riffs, but at the end of the day, it’s just music that hits you right in the feels because of the lyrics. Pay attention to the lyrics. Definitely check out 'Is This What You Wanted' if you haven’t yet. It’s streaming now.

Everstatic – Fever Dream EP
We’ve been chatting about singles, but here’s something a little different—a three-track EP from Lafayette, Louisiana’s own Everstatic (you might remember them as Phantum Sun).
Everstatic is all about that alternative and grunge vibe, and since 2023, they’ve been tearing up stages all over the Louisiana music scene and beyond. Leading the charge is Nick Cline, who just brings so much energy to everything he does. Their EP, Fever Dream, kicks off with 'House of Glass,' which starts with this killer bluesy riff and then explodes into a wall of bass that’ll shake your whole body. When Nick belts out, “Take me away. Take me away from here,” you can’t help but nod along and get totally lost in the groove. Next up is 'Coven,' which comes in with so much fuzzy distortion you’ll feel like you’re swimming in a haze of pure grunge. It’s got a little punk in there too, and honestly, it just rocks. The final track, 'Feast on my Brain,' ties everything together with a steady, driving drumbeat that never lets up. Everstatic really nailed it with these three songs—they’ve found a fresh sound and direction, and it totally works. Seriously, go stream Fever Dream—you won’t regret it.
