Shape builds in intensity, with many layers that mesh so well.
Released today, May 19, 2026, is the latest from the alternative and shoegaze band Cinder, called ‘Shape’. Shape begins with just the right amount of fuzz, leading to haunting synths that build in intensity until the song evens out and the vocals come in. A steady groove takes over until the chorus hits. It’s loud, explosive, and perfect. The breakdown at the end really ties it all together, too. Not to mention, Lewis' vocals are so perfect. This is a banger of a tune. It’s got so many layers that mesh so well. Is it shoegaze, grunge, or industrial? You decide.
The band is comprised of Lewis Dean on vocals, Daniel McAuliffe on guitar, Callum Moores on guitar, and Zach Ockmore on drums.

Originating from Manchester, UK, Cinder is gradually establishing its presence in the underground music scene with a mix of experimental sounds and carefully crafted compositions. Their music offers a unique depth and intensity that can't be ignored — passive listening isn’t possible. Don’t even try. Each Cinder track requires your full focus, immersing you in layered sounds.Â
Being a fan of shoegaze, industrial, and grunge music my entire life, Cinder’s music just hits all the right notes for me, and I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.
Shoegaze meets industrial – that’s Cinder. A healthy dose of both genres creates a well-rounded listening experience with a little grunge thrown in. If you are not familiar with the band, we reviewed their previous tracks, ‘Impermanence’ and ‘Breathing’, as well as their Vows to Boscobel EP. If you haven’t checked those out, go now.

‘Shape’ is out now on all streaming platforms, so go give it a spin! It’s just really good.
